Frequently Asked Questions ...
From time to time I hear and get asked the same questions, so thought it might be best to answer them for you. Of course if there's another question on your mind you can always contact me...
Ok here we go ...
I'll try and keep the answers straight to the point.
Are your ceremonies classed as religious ceremonies?
They are indeed.
When should we enquire then book you?
I wouldn't hang around,
dates seem to disappear fast these days.
My wedding is in the south of Ireland, can you legally officiate onsite?
I can indeed.
Do we need to legally marry first at the town hall before the venue?
No, not at all.
One of us is Protestant and the other is Catholic, is that a problem?
No, not at all.
So you can legally officiate our wedding in the South onsite, and we'll be legally married that day?
Absolutely!
Where can you marry us?
I can legally officiate your wedding at your venue or location of choice almost anywhere on our beautiful Emerald Isle of Ireland!
Where can you not?
The only places I can't officiate for you is within the Catholic Church or potentially your local Council Town / City Hall.
I don't understand: Celebrant, Pastor, Humanist, Registrar ???
Basically we're all legal officiants.
We all go by different titles including 'celebrant'.
However, we offer very different services.
Are you a Humanist?
I'm not. Though I know a lot of Humanists who are amazing!
Are you a Registrar?
I'm not. Though I do keep in regular contact with them for advice.
So are you a Celebrant?
I often get referred to as a celebrant, though as my main job is within the local church, and I am an ordained Minister of Religion.
Professionally I go by Pastor.
Do you bring your own PA system?
Short answer: I do not no. Long answer: in my opinion this should be provided by the venue, as they know their layout better than I do. A lot of venues will provide a PA if asked. Happy to chat more about this as I've worked within that industry for a very long time, and I can also signpost you to company's who do this for wedding venues like AXL Audio.
Can you officiate on a Sunday?
I can though I do have limited availability.
One of us has been married before, is that a problem?
No, not at all.
We don't really go to Church, is that a problem?
No, not at all.
We don't live in Northern Ireland, is that a problem?
No, not at all.
Do we need to feed you on the day?
No, I'm good thanks.
Are you sure we don't need to legally marry first at the town hall before the venue ceremony in the South of Ireland?
ha ha
no, not at all
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely!
Can I be fashionably late?
Please don't.
What if one of us has had too much to drink, can we still get married?
Legally no.
Do you enjoy this sort of work?
